One Room Challenge – Powder Room – Week 5

One Room Challenge – Powder Room – Week 5

Boy am I glad we have an extra week!  Before Linda decided to add the extra week (due to all the natural disasters these past few weeks causing delays for people) we would have been doing final reveals NEXT WEEK!  Man, I’d be in trouble.

But as it stands, I think I’m going to be all right!

When I said I was considering hiring out the rest of my painting, this isn’t exactly what I had in mind.   Ha!

That’s my 4 year old helping out.  I’m proud to say that he actually did a fine job and even caught his drips and made sure not to leave any to dry.  Of course I was watching over him, but I really didn’t have to “fix” anything.  I also knew I was going to need another coat anyway, so having him do a coat really did help out.  *Look at that concentration!*

So what’s left?!

  1. Finish Painting the door (& maybe one more coat on the molding around the room)
  2. Hang Shelves
  3. Crown Molding (?) – I still want to do this, but feeling like I may run out of time. *fingers crossed*
  4. Paint ceiling
  5. Touch Up blue paint
  6. Accessorize!  (purchase accessories…*ahem*)

Man, typing it all out really makes it look like that’s way too much for 2 more weeks.  But I think I can do it.  My biggest risk, is not having the accessories I’m hoping for.  I don’t actually know what I’m looking for.  It’s one of those, I’ll know it when I see it kind of things.  But I have to make time to actually go out and shop for it.  I’ve tried online, but no such luck yet.  I’m still looking for red accents and trying to decide exactly how I want to incorporate that.

Also – at this moment, I’ve decided that I’ll be okay without a cabinet of any kind on the wall below the light switch.  I mentioned before how I wanted to use that Ikea shoe cabinet but it’s not the right size.  I’m going to see how much I can do with the shelves over the toilet.  And if that serves its purpose, then the other cabinet won’t be needed.

I can’t wait to pull off all that painter’s tape to see what it really looks like.  It’s going to be awesome!

Now, be sure to head over here to check out the other guest participants’ progress and here to check on the featured participants’ progress.

Thanks for stopping by and see you next week!
