One Room Challenge – Powder Room – Week 4

One Room Challenge – Powder Room – Week 4

Okay – now I’m freaking out.  So I completely underestimated how painful it was going to be to paint this room.

It’s not that I can’t do it.  But when I only have a few hours to devote to it (kids are in school) and I’m not able to get as much accomplished within those few hours as I hoped…then I get stressed!

So I got a single coat of white paint on all 4 walls (and a little extra on the door just because it was there).  And that’s IT!  *crying face* . I used Sherwin Williams Interior & Exterior HIGH GLOSS Stain-Resistant Paint & Primer in Extra White.  At first I only bought a pint because I was just doing baseboards and the door.  Then I decided to do the board and batten.  And so I went ahead and bought 2 more gallons.  That better be enough to finish!

Oh it makes me so sad to say that I only got 1 coat on the walls.  I really hoped that I would have ALL the paint finished and be working on final details over the next two weeks.  You know, the fun, decorating type stuff!

Clearly, you know what I’m going to be doing instead.

And to be quite honest, I’m seriously contemplating hiring it out.  There are just so many nooks and crannies to get around, it’s obnoxious!

I saw a post on Facebook about what jobs do you insist on doing yourself (would never hire out) and what jobs would you hire out.  As much as I want to be a DIYer…I think at this stage in my life I’m more of a DIFMer (Do It For Me).  I would hire just about anything out!

Lastly – I did want to mention that my Dyson Cordless Vacuum using the car/stairs attachment came in quite handy for getting up the dust after I sanded down the quarter round on the bottom baseboard.

I can’t remember if I mentioned this in my last post, but I’m still struggling with my storage cabinet that I was hoping to put on the wall below the light switch.  I originally wanted to use one of those Ikea shoe cabinets with tilt out drawers but the dimensions were too wide.  So I found a different one, but the dimensions are too HIGH and wide that it hits the light switch.  So I am still searching for the perfect, low-profile cabinet to put over there.  Please send me your recommendations/suggestions if you have them!  I’m getting a bit desperate over here.  😉

And as always you can head over here to check out the other guest participants’ progress and here to check on the featured participants’ progress.

Thanks for stopping by and see you next week!
